CELEBRATING 50 YEARS IN BUSINESS
One of the Nation’s Oldest Herb Farms Celebrates Gardening , Wonderful Wine, Scrumptious Food, Antiques & Old Barn Markets
As we begin this special 2024 season, it is with joy that we greet our customers. Many have been with us since we started business over 50 years ago. We feel fortunate to achieve this length of time for our agri-tourism business. It is with a grateful heart that we thank our precious friends who have supported our dream of developing this historic farm to the family business it remains today. Living with history and loving the rural lifestyle at Stream Cliff Farm has been the foundation of our business. You are invited to come enjoy our piece of heaven in the rolling hills of southern Indiana. Our farm has been passed down for generations and gradually we have restored agricultural buildings, attempting to preserve their historical purpose. A few years ago we were presented with the award for historical rural preservation called the “Arnold Preservation Award”. It is given annually by Indiana Landmarks and Indiana Farm Bureau. Lt Governor, Suzanne Crouch, came to the farm and gave us the award. We greatly appreciate being recognized for the work we’ve done over the past 50+ years. One by one we have restored these buildings to their former glory and finally it was our old 1821 barn’s turn to get some love. The barn is actually the oldest and largest building of the many on our farmstead. We use it for two http://www.streamclifffarm.com/newsletter/OBM.shtml events where vendors will purvey intriguing items, handmade or antique with a primitive or shabby-chic theme. During the Old Barn Markets, June 7 & 8 and October 11 & 12, we will have our large smoker out to provide delicious farm smoked BBQ. Great-grandpa’s old horse-drawn wagon will be transformed into a chuck wagon serving center. The barn is also used for other rustic events, Sunday afternoon live music and our Old Barn Dance August 31 with Rusty Bladen. Be sure to check out our offering for special events such as our bridal/baby showers, birthdays or anniversary parties.
We are excited to continue our “Summer Music Series”. Beginning June 23 and running through October 6 we will have live, free music most Sunday afternoons 2:00-5:00 (except the Sundays following Old Barn Markets on June 8 & Oct 11 and the day after our barn dance, Sept. 1).
On our Calendar of Events you will find two Quilt Shows, our Celebration Days and two Old Barn Markets & BBQ. Of course, we will have gardening classes and workshops. We will be offering the always popular Mother’s Day Luncheon. Be sure to check the Calendar of Events schedule and our website for more information. You may register online or by phone or mail. We host many groups and bus tours. We also offer “Art with Wine” painting classes for individual groups, such as a ladies day out, or bachelorette/bridal shower. Lectures with or without make and take workshops are also very popular for clubs, churches and senior groups. We would be happy to organize a special visit for your group of 15 or more. The Winery will remain open after the gardening season ends and will offer wine tastings and wine sales each Friday, Saturday and Sunday through December 15, 2024. The Restaurant will also remain open for lunch and holiday parties during this time.
The second edition of Secrets of the Garden Path with Recipes has now been released. Stream Cliff Farm founder, author, and resident folk artist Betty Manning is excited to continue sharing this beloved book, proudly printed in the United States. She paints her folk art most days and sells many of her paintings. She goes by the name of Miss Betty, Hoosier Folk Artist. During the past year the state Folklorist, Jon Cay, interviewed Betty and recorded a video of her which is now included at Indiana University’s Library in Bloomington, IN. Original paintings, cards and prints of Betty Manning’s primitive folk art paintings are for sale. Also in our Antique Gift Shop, we have beautiful garden items, books on cooking and gardening and handmade soaps. We also carry a line of fair-trade, Mayan jewelry from Guatemala that is wonderful quality. The Antique Gift Shop was built in 1868 by the railroad as a boarding house for the workers.
